Everyone wants to fit in. Most people have an inherent desire to feel like they belong. I don't like being the odd man out. Blending in and going with the flow is far more comfortable than standing out from a crowd... If everyone is jumping off of a bridge, are you going to jump too?

Humans are gregarious creatures. We like to follow the leader and stay with the pack. The problem with a cow herd mentality is that it can lead us to dangerous places. The herd we associate with is critical.

I am clean and sober. I can't associate with active addicts. For the sake of my sanity and sobriety, I have to avoid those kinds of interactions at all costs. I don't need any help finding trouble. That is why I place so much value in my church family. They hold me accountable and keep me pointed towards Jesus. With them, I can blend in and still be set apart from the world.
