Acts 5:12-16 NKJV

[12] And through the hands of the apostles, many signs and wonders were done among the people. And they were all with one accord in Solomon’s Porch. [13] Yet none of the rest dared join them, but the people esteemed them highly. [14] And believers were increasingly added to the Lord, multitudes of both men and women, [15] so that they brought the sick out into the streets and laid them on beds and couches, that at least the shadow of Peter passing by might fall on some of them. [16] Also, a multitude gathered from the surrounding cities to Jerusalem, bringing sick people and those who were tormented by unclean spirits, and they were all healed.

Bayou Joe's is a local landmark restaurant here in Panama City. It is unique in the fact that the main building is a floating structure right on Massalina Bayou. The dining area is surrounded by floor to ceiling windows that open up to the water. At night, underwater lighting illuminates the passing shadows of hungry fish. They congregate knowing there is a high likelihood that, if they stay close, they will be fed. The fish are drawn to the light and fed accordingly.

We (the individuals) are a lot like those fish. Right or wrong, we are all seeking something. When we get hungry, we search for sustenance. Hunger can be physical, spiritual, emotional, or relational in nature.

We (the church) are, or should be, a lot like that restaurant. When the church is doing its job, it will successfully project the light of Jesus and provide for the needs of those who hunger. This world is filled with people who are spiritually starving. I want to be a part of the institution established by God to help provide that nourishment.
